The sea Unicorn

It all started with a simple desire: ‘I want to see a real, live whale!’
Whales made from empty chocolate and biscuit boxes. It’s a technique called ‘papel maché’, a Spanish craft known to everyone from children to adults.

The first time I made one, it felt as though I’d given birth. Perhaps it’s because they’re mammals, just like us.
Even though they’re all whales, each one that comes into being is different—and each one is wonderful!
Since then, I’ve been making whales for about three years. Papier-mâché is time-consuming. Small ones take a week, whilst large ones take about three months. I build them up layer by layer, let them dry, and take my time to bring them into being. I’ve made sperm whales, humpback whales, blue whales, narwhals and dolphins. My whale-making journey continues.

Whales have inhabited the Earth since time immemorial. They are irreplaceable beings said to receive spiritual energy from the cosmos and convey it to the Earth through their songs.

When I dived into the sea and swam with the dolphins, I felt a truly immense sense of love.
As I floated in the boundlessly deep and vast ocean, unable to breathe, I watched the dolphins swimming freely around me. I thought to myself, ‘This is the cosmos!’
I want to discover more and more about the world beneath the sea.
