Each piece is melted from solid borosilicate rod over an open torch — no moulds, no two alike. Pendants and rings inspired by whales, by the rivers of the Pyrenees, and by the night sky over the mountains.
My name is Atsuko. I was born in Toyota City, Japan, in 1982. Today I live in a small village in the Spanish Pyrenees, where I make glass jewellery — pendants, rings and earrings — inspired by the magic of whales, the flowing water in the mountains and the colours of nature.
My first encounter with borosilicate glass was on the streets of Berkeley, USA. I was completely taken by the sight of glass melting, breathing, transforming in the flames. At home in Japan, I met my mentor. Twenty years later, I remain just as fascinated by the wondrous world of glass as I was then.
Borosilicate glass melts at 1,650°C. At that heat it moves like water — flowing, folding, holding the breath of the maker. Every Sirio piece is shaped at the torch in a single sitting, then slow-annealed overnight so the light it caught at the flame stays inside the glass.
Once a month, four new pieces leave the annealer. One leads the drop — the rest sit alongside, waiting for the right wrist or the right neck.
Handmade borosilicate glass ring with a swirling galaxy pattern inside — a small cosmos you wear on your finger. Made to order to your measurements.
